
Quality Migrant Admission Scheme
Introduction
Quality Migrant Admission Scheme, commonly known as QMAS. The Scheme seeks to attract highly skilled or talented persons to settle in Hong Kong in order to enhance Hong Kong's economic competitiveness.Upon successful application, a 3-year residence visa is granted in one go. If the applicant meets the requirement of "having lived in Hong Kong and made contributions to Hong Kong", the visa can be renewed after 3 years. The conventional renewal pattern is [3+2] (if the applicant's annual income in the previous tax year before the renewal application reaches over HKD 2 million, the visa will be renewed for 6 years in one go, which is the highest talent renewal pattern). After meeting the requirements for 7 years, one can apply for permanent residency.

Application Requirements
For the main applicant:
- at least 18 years old.
- no criminal record.
- sufficient financial capability.
- basic academic qualification.
- The applicant can choose to be assessed between the “General Points Test” and the “Achievement-based Points Test”.
1. the “General Points Test”
Meet at least 6 of the following 12 assessment criteria:
(1) Aged 50 or below
(2) Holding a master’s or doctoral degree awarded by an eligible university
(3) Whether applicant’s master’s or doctoral degree awarded by an eligible university is pertinent to “STEM”, i.e. science, technology, engineering or mathematics
(4) Applicant is proficient in two languages, both written and spoken
(5) Applicant is proficient in written and spoken English
(6) Applicant has more than five-yearwork experience at degree level or expert level
(7) Applicant has more than three-yearwork experience at degree level or expert levelin multi-national companies (MNCs) or reputable enterprises, such as listed companies or companies on the lists of The Global 2000 by Forbes, the Fortune Global 500 and the Hurun China 500
(8) Applicant has more than three-year work experience at degree level or expert level in one of the specific fields/industries, including “innovation and technology”, “finance” and “international trade” (including cross-boundary marine and aviation transportation, and supply chain management)
(9) Applicant has more than two year-graduate work experience at degree level or expert levelwith international exposure
(10) Whether the applicant has an annual income reaching HK$1 million or above, or its equivalent in foreign currency, in the year immediately preceding the date of application
(11) Whether the applicant currently owns a business entity with an annual profit reaching HK$5 million or above, or its equivalent in foreign currency, in the year immediately preceding the date of application
(12) Whether the applicant currently owns a listed company
2. the “Achievement-based Points Test”
Meet at least 1 of the following 2 assessment criteria
(1) the applicant has received an award of exceptional achievement (e.g. Olympic medal, Nobel prize, national/international award)
(2) the applicant can show that his/her work has been acknowledged by his/her peers or has contributed significantly to the development of his/her field (e.g. lifetime achievement award from industry).
